“ Iranian caves conditions are not proper. While visiting Ghar Golzard we faced a destroyed cave!”
The above words were stated by Jean Pierre Bartholeyns, the president of Department of Protection and Management of UIS, two years ago during ISEI2008. Considering the words of Fadi Nader, the secretary general of UIS, most damages to caves are not made by ordinary people or visitors. It is mostly done by the cavers themselves.
We have not been grateful to the beauty of the caves which caught our eyes. We have polluted their crystally clear springs, stained their crystals with paint and showed our descendents how narrow-minded we could be. By breaking parts of these gorgeous underground treasures and placing them in our dwellings have proved a fake honor. How ashamed we are because of all the cruelty to fragile and delicate bats!
It is autumn now. The first month in Persian calendar is called Mehr( means Kindness)-September 23 to October 22. A group of Iranian cavers determined to show their kindness and gratitude to the underground world, following the proposal by ICSA(Iran Caving and Speleolgy Association) have decided to clean up many caves throughout the country on Friday, September 24.
More information will be provided later.
